Born in Maryland to a businessman father and a craftswoman mother, Steffanie Lorig spent her childhood drawing, doodling, and painting on any surface available to her. In college, she combined her interest in design, illustration, and writing, majoring in Visual Communication. She spent the next ten years in the graphic design field working for both corporate and private design studios. During this time, she recognized a need and an opportunity to use art to help high-need children and created Art with Heart, a nonprofit dedicated to helping kids through creativity. Under her leadership, the organization helped over 150,000 children in need worldwide and produced a portfolio of therapeutic activity books for children as well as supporting curricula. She also served as the creative lead for professional development trainings, teaching therapists how to use art to engage high-risk children and teens in a meaningful way.
After leading the organization for twenty years, Steffanie returned to her roots to explore creative avenues, including painting, workshops, speaking, and designing. Her specialties include social enterprise, creative direction, community collaboration, and content creation.
In her personal artwork, the viewer can sense Steffanie's curiosity – it reveals itself in her intuitive marks and rich, complex layers which both conceal and reveal. For more information, visit http://steffanielorig.com.
