In this workshop, the students will learn the fundamentals of linocut carving and printing through a collaborative project inspired by the natural textures and colors of autumn. Each participant will carve one unique element of a forest such as a tree, leaf, mushroom, acorn, animal, or log, using a small section of a linoleum block. These carvings act as individual stamps that can be arranged and layered in countless ways. Rather than producing a single uniform design, students will experiment with composition and placement as they combine their stamps on a shared large print surface, creating a giant collective forest scene. Every participant will leave with a personal print that reflects both their creative voice and their contribution to the group artwork. Through this process, students will develop carving and composition skills, discover how simple tools and accessible materials can yield powerful results, and experience how collaboration can transform individual creativity into a cohesive and meaningful visual story.
